SSWP Attends the Garden Party Hosted at Elisabeta Palace on the Occasion of 10 May

The Security Studies and World Politics Association had the honour of attending the Garden Party hosted at Elisabeta Palace on the occasion of 10 May, an event of strong historical and symbolic significance for Romania.

This year marks the 160th anniversary of the founding of the Royal House and of the modern Romanian state, an essential milestone in Romania’s historical and European development. The date of 10 May remains closely connected to the arrival of Prince Carol I in Romania and to the beginning of a broad process of institutional, political, and diplomatic modernization. During his reign, Romania gained its independence, became a kingdom, and strengthened its identity on the international stage.

For SSWP, participating in this event represented a valuable experience and an opportunity to celebrate the tradition, history, and values that contributed to the development of modern Romania. Held in an elegant and meaningful setting, the event brought together representatives from the diplomatic, political, academic, and cultural spheres, creating an important space for dialogue and institutional engagement.

During the event, the Association’s representatives had the opportunity to engage in constructive dialogue with His Excellency Darryl Nirenberg, Ambassador of the United States of America to Romania, His Excellency Gavin Buchan, Ambassador of Canada to Romania, Bulgaria, and the Republic of Moldova, as well as Dragoș Pîslaru, Minister of Investments and European Projects of Romania.

SSWP’s participation in the Garden Party at Elisabeta Palace reflects the Association’s commitment to promoting dialogue, civic engagement, and a deeper understanding of the historical, diplomatic, and political contexts that shape the evolution of modern Romania.
