Conference: “The European Integration of the Republic of Moldova and Romania’s Support”

The Romanian Diplomatic Institute (IDR) hosted the conference “The European Integration of the Republic of Moldova and Romania’s Support,” held on July 16, 2024. The event was organized by the student association Security Studies and World Politics (SSWP) of the University of Bucharest, in partnership with IDR.

The conference was opened by Liliana Popescu-Bîrlan, Director General of the Romanian Diplomatic Institute, who underlined the importance of the topic, the role of young people in the Republic of Moldova’s accession process to the European Union, and the efforts made by Chișinău to advance European integration.

H.E. Victor Chirilă, Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to Romania, highlighted the significance of the October 2024 presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova and the crucial role of the referendum on European integration, encouraging young people to participate actively.

Journalists from TV8 Moldova shared insights into Moscow’s anti-European propaganda, including attempts to disinform Moldovan citizens and influence electoral outcomes.

Representatives of Moldovan civil society in Romania, including the Organization of Bessarabian Students in Bucharest and the Club of Bessarabian Women in Romania, emphasized the importance of Romania’s support for the Republic of Moldova’s European integration.
